Born in Brooklyn and now dwelling in Queens, Olivia Theresa
Longott is a multi-cultural stunner, blessed with parents of
Jamaican, Indian and Dominican descent. She claims her mother
named her after Olivia Newton John before she was born, as
she knew her daughter would one day be a singer. Then low and
behold, Olivia emerged from babyhood singing ABC's that gave
goose bumps, proving that above all else she was indeed a singer
first.
Later as a seven-year-old tomboy with a boyish, raspy
voice, Olivia stopped people in their tracks, surprising them
with
her commanding vocal chords and perfect pitch. Instinctively,
the child sung from her diaphragm, which was perfected by both
singing in the church choir and performing "Michael Jackson" shows
for anyone who dared to cross her path.
Olivia's song writing skills were most likely born from her
penchant for penning poetry, a craft that won Olivia awards
in school. The actuality that Olivia grew to be a straight
A student as a teenager was more than impressive, it was
a brilliant ploy to keep her parents at bay so she could
join her cousin Paul in the recording studio nearly every
day. Paul, still a major catalyst in her career, arranged
Olivia's guitar, piano and vocal lessons and witnessed his
cousin's discipline and dedication to music blossom to the
monstrous proportion it is today.
Yet in spite of her insatiable appetite for singing, working
in the studio and writing music, Olivia did make her professional
parents proud by attending college at both Hofstra University
and give Towns College. But faced with the overwhelming supposition
that Clive Davis' J Records would offer her a record deal
in August 2000, Olivia put college on a back burner to be
revisited one day.
After her journey with J Records, only releasing 2 singles,
and her first studio effort "Olivia", Olivia went
on a long hiatus only to emerge in late 2004 and announce
that she was apart of the infamous G Unit clique. Olivia
being the First Lady of the group brings a new spice to the
group. She speaks from a female perspective and holds it
down for the ladies. With a new album due out February 2007
titled "Second Chance", modeling for G Unit clothing
and eventually starting her own lingerie side of the G Unit
line Olivia is no where ready to slow down, as she's here
to show the ladies how it should be done!
